"You'll never be friends"

Back (Yay) from the outside world that barely seems to exist in Sunnydale, Spike makes a fine entrance. He runs over the Welcome to Sunnydale sign, falls out of his car and drunkenly slurs....

"Home Sweet Home" ~Spike

Dumped by Drusilla he is in totally despair. Visiting the last place they were happy, the old factory, he sings, sobs, smashes the remains of Dru's doll collection and drinks some more. Looks like someone needs a hug and possibly some coffee and a bath. Ok, thoughts that are not relevant here.
Angel is reading when Spike come to look for him. From a distance he watches, drinks, trips over and passes out in the garden.
When the sun comes up in the morning Spike finds himself out in the open. His hand catches fire. While tying to find something to put out the flames he finds the rest of him in danger of burning to ashes. Covering himself in his jacket he runs for the shelter of his car. Picking up a bottle from rubbish filled car he pours the contents over his hand before taking a slug of the booze. Not a great way to start the day.
Seeking revenge he makes his way to the magic shop.

"Boils. I wanna give him boils all over his face. You know, dripping pustules. Let's really go for the gusto here." ~Spike to shopkeeper

As he is looking for a spell book, Willow comes in and asks for the ingredients for a love spell. When she leaves, Spike kills the shop keeper, he no longer wants revenge, he has a better idea. He goes to the school where Willow is starting a spell. Spike grabs Xander and when Willow comes after him with a microscope it's used to knock Xander out. The desperate vampire then kidnaps the pair and takes them to the factory.
In the factory Spike threatens a terrified Willow. Cast a spell to make Drusilla love him again or else! Willow agrees and in a wonderfully brilliant mood swing he sadly says..

"It was that truce with Buffy that did it. Dru said I'd gone soft. Wasn't demon enough for the likes of her. And I told her it didn't mean anything, I was thinking of her the whole time, but she didn't care. So, we got to Brazil, and she was... she was just different. I gave her everything: beautiful jewels, beautiful dresses with beautiful girls in them, but nothing made her happy. And she would fliiirt! (sniffs) I caught her on a park bench, making out with a *chaos* demon! Have you ever seen a chaos demon? They're all slime and antlers. They're disgusting." ~Spike

In search for the correct spell book he ends up at the Summers house. Joyce invites him in and gives him hot chocolate, sympathy and almost those little marshmallows. But he is spotted by Angel. He tries to warn Joyce away from him. But as far as Joyce is concerned, Angel is still Angelus and tells him to leave. Spike has some fun pulling faces like he is about to eat her. Buffy arrives, invites Angel in and is about to stake Spike with a wooden spoon when he lets them know he has Willow and Xander hostage.

Angel: Buffy, we still need him to find the others.
Buffy: Need him? He's probably just got them locked up in the factory.
Spike: Well, hey, how thick do you think I am?
Buffy: Fine. Can we just get this over with?

They get to the magic shop and start to look for the thing they need for the spell. Spike remembers all the good times with drusilla. Angel points out that unlife wasn't all blood and peaches with Drusilla. Upset Spike dishes out some home truth's and gives a classic speech....

"You're *not* friends. You'll never be friends. You'll be in love till it kills you both. You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other till it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends. (points at his temple) Love isn't brains, children, it's blood... (clasps his chest) blood screaming inside you to work its will. *I* may be love's bitch, but at least *I'm* man enough to admit it." ~ Spike

Stuff collected they are met at the door by one of Spike's old minions and friends. Not happy to see his betrayer again he starts a fight. Buffy and Angel join in so that Spike doesn't get himself killed before telling them where Willow and Xander are. They are out number and backed in to the shop, fighting all the way. Driving the most of the bad guys back back with holy water, Spike starts to enjoy the fight. When they are safer Buffy asks him to get on with the spell so he can leave. He tells them that Willow and Xander are at the factory.

"I'm really glad I came here, you know? I've been all wrongheaded about this. Weeping, crawling, blaming everybody else. I want Dru back, I've just gotta be the man I was, (stands proud) the man she loved. I'm gonna do what I shoulda done in the first place: I'll find her, wherever she is, tie her up, torture her until she likes me again. Love's a funny thing." ~Spike

Music blaring, a song in his heart and a cigarette in his mouth Spike drives out of town.
